GRAMBLING, La. - J.P. Tillman threw two touchdowns to help Grambling State beat Alcorn State 29-0 on Saturday night.
Tillman passed for 143 yards for the Tigers (1-1, 1-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who also relied on a punt block for a touchdown and four interceptions to blank the Braves (0-2, 01- SWAC).
Grambling State had more yards on offense than Alcorn State (241-176), but the Tigers used 128 yards on interception returns to set up good field position for most of the game.
Grambling State scored all of its points in the second and third quarter. Tillman threw a 14-yard touchdown to Larry Donnell to put the Tigers ahead 19-0 with 10:23 left in the third quarter.
Frank Warren ran for 63 yards on six carries and one touchdown for the Tigers.
Tim Buckley passed for 121 yards and had three interceptions for Alcorn State.
