CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Jake Plummer DVD threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns and David Boston DVD had over 100 yards receiving for the ninth time this season as the Arizona Cardinals recorded a 30-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

The loss was the 14th in a row for the Panthers (1-14), tying the single season record held by four teams -- the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 1980 New Orleans Saints, the 1981 Baltimore Colts and the 1990 New England Patriots.

"Obviously, it's embarassing," Carolina coach George Seifert said. "I'm going to (talk) about that, you all will. I'll talk about this team here."

Plummer connected with Boston 2:24 into the second quarter on a 61-yard pass, giving the Cardinals a 17-0 lead. Just under three minutes later, the two teamed up on a five-yard pass to make it 24-0.

The drive was set up by an interception by cornerback David Barrett, who returned it 23 yards to the Carolina 12.

"It was real important to get up on them early and we did it defensively," Plummer said. "That was huge."

Boston had seven catches for 127 yards and leads the league with nine 100-yard games after catching just three passes for 26 yards last week in the team's 17-10 victory over Dallas.

"I really wasn't thinking about last week," Boston said. "It was good to get going early and get my confidence going. I'm trying to be 8-8, that's all I care about, then I'll worry about individual records. I think that's the mindset of our entire team right now."

Michael Pittman DVD ran for 89 yards on 12 carries for Arizona (7-8).

Carolina rookie Chris Weinke completed 36-of-63 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown with one interception.

"I felt we had a good week of practice," Weinke said. "We executed well during the week. Those turnovers took the fire out of us."

Barrett helped the Cardinals open the scoring 56 seconds into the game when he forced running back Richard Huntley to fumble at the 25, recovered by linebacker Ronald McKinnon who returned it for a touchdown.

Cedric Oglesby DVD made it 10-0 four seconds into the second on a 41-yard field goal before Boston's first TD of the game gave Arizona a comfrotable 17-point lead.

The Panthers finally got on the board with 2:38 left in the half when Weinke threw a seven-yard pass to Donald Hayes, completing a 64-yard drive which Carolina converted three third downs and a fourth down at the Cardinals 30.

The Panthers were 7-of-19 on third down and 4-of-7 on fourth.

Hayes had six catches for 39 yards.

Oglesby added an 18-yarder at the end of the half before he capped the scoring with a 26-yarder to cap the scoring with 11:27 left in the third quarter.

"We're starting to roll," Arizona coach Dave McGinnis said. "We need to score touchdowns when we're down inside the 10-yard line."

"I think win or lose next week, we will all be thinking positive about next year," Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan said. "After something like this happens, it makes you want to work that much harder."
