Quarterback Ricky Dobbs ran for a pair of touchdowns as he led the Navy Midshipmen to a 32-14 win against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in non-league action at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Dobbs carried the ball 25 times but generated just 47 yards on the ground for the Midshipmen (1-1), hitting 5-of-8 passing for 103 yards as well. Marcus Curry finished with a game-high 124 yards and a score on 15 rushing attempts for the home team.

LaTech (0-2) had just one offensive touchdown on the day, scored by running back Daniel Porter who finished with a mere 44 yards on the ground. Signal- caller Ross Jenkins converted 18-of-29 passing for 156 yards, but was intercepted once and sacked four times in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

The Bulldogs actually moved out to a 14-0 lead in the first six minutes of action when Porter capped a 10-play, 74-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run, followed by an electrifying 85-yard punt return for a score by the always dangerous Phillip Livas.

However, from there the game belonged to the academy as Joe Buckley began the team's scoring with a 43-yard field goal at the 4:31 mark of the first quarter. Cory Finnerty added a 16-yard TD run in the frame as well to make the score 14-10 heading into the second quarter.

The only points of the period came on a three-yard TD run by Dobbs, while Greg Zingler's two-point conversion made the score 18-14 at the break.

After a scoreless third quarter, Curry and Dobbs hit the end zone on runs of three and two yards, respectively, providing the Midshipmen with the 18-point triumph.

Navy ran the ball 69 times and finished with a commanding 290 yards on the ground, compared to just 11 net yards on 17 attempts for the visiting Bulldogs
