recap / box score

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Kliff Kingsbury put on another show and this time, he got some help from his defense.

Kliff Kingsbury, the NCAA passing leader, set school and Big 12 Conference records with six touchdown passes, leading Texas Tech to a 49-0 rout of New Mexico.

Kliff Kingsbury completed 41-of-59 passes for a season-high 407 yards as the Red Raiders (3-2) rebounded from last week's 51-48 overtime loss to North Carolina State. Three of his touchdowns went to Anton Paige, who had six receptions for 76 yards.

Having already passed for more than 1,600 yards and 17 TD this season, Kliff Kingsbury directed four scoring drives in the first half, when Texas Tech built a 28-0 lead.

He threw a two-yard TD to Paige in the first period, then had scoring strikes of two yards to Mickey Peters, seven yards to Paige and 20 yards to Carlos Francis in the second quarter.

Kliff Kingsbury gave the Red Raiders a 35-0 lead with a four-yard TD toss to Paige in the third period. He connected with Preston Hatfield for a five-yard score in the fourth quarter.

New Mexico (2-4) was shut out for the first time since a 35-0 loss to Brigham Young in 1992, a span of 112 games.

The Lobos lost quarterback Casey Kelly, who broke his left arm late in the first quarter. Kelly, who is righthanded, played the rest of the first half. He did not return after X-rays taken at halftime revealed the fracture.

Texas Tech held a 590-199 advantage in total yardage as Kliff Kingsbury played into the fourth quarter. Backup B.J. Symons completed 6-of-9 passes for 62 yards.

Kliff Kingsbury and Symons spread the wealth as 14 Red Raiders' receivers caught at least one pass.

Kelly and Justin Millea combined to complete just 11-of-28 passes for 111 yards for the Lobos.
