Clemens completed 14-of-21 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns and Fife was 8-of-8 for 111 yards and a score.

The Ducks scored on their first four possessions to build a 28-0 lead in the first quarter before Mississippi State closed within 28-21.

Oregon responded as Clemens threw a 12-yard pass to Matt Floberg and Fife scored on a six-yard keeper to make it 42-21 with 24 seconds left in the third quarter.

Kevin Fant completed 23-of-40 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns for Mississippi State, which scored twice in the fourth quarter to make it close.
